The computer isn't covered by the known nvidia issue. http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2377 You should get it repaired by Apple because it will be a lot less than the cost of a logic board. You are looking at $310 for the repair. Don't do what machead said, you will not get it covered and just look like an !&!. Goodluck! 

Start the computer in single user mode by holding down the (command + s) keys.

You will see white text on a black screen.

Don't forget to hit "enter" after each command.

You need to mount the system so type: sh /etc/rc

wait till it loads everything then type: rm /var/db/.AppleSetupDone

this will make the system launch the Setup Assistant when the computer restarts allowing you to create a new admin account for the computer.

To restart the computer type: reboot

    Hope this helps.

There is one more thing you can do to try to fix it but I wouldn't recommend trying it unless you feel comfortable taking apart the computer.

If you want to try it here is what you do:

    1) remove the top case

    2) disconnect the heatsink temp. sensor connections from the board (http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Repair/MacBo...-Core-Duo-Heat-Sink/292/5#s1128) step 15.

    3) also disconnect the fan(http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Repair/MacBo...-Core-Duo-Fan/290/5#top) step 14

    4) connect the power to the computer and hold down the power button until you hear a long tone or see the LED on the bottom case start flashing.

    5) If the computer powers on shut it down and then reconnect all the connections and then put the top case back on.

This should do the trick. Some of the macbooks have had an issue with the heat sink causing the computer not to power on and the firmware just needs to be reset without the heatsink. The computer should power on normally after the reset and you shouldn't worry about it.

This has worked for me in the past.

If it doesn't work then you probably need a new logic board. Take it to an Apple Store and see a Genius.

try holding down the power button until the front light on the bottom case starts flashing or you hear a tone from the computer. This will reset the EFi on the machine. If this works then you probably have not done your updates in a while and should done them ASAP because you will have this problem again.

If this doesn't work then take it to an Apple Store because you need a repair.

  • Re: PowerBook G4 disk drive Feb 19 @ 2:04 PM

Put packaging tape on a black CD-R and the fold it on top of itself so there is a sticky side. Then insert the disk in the drive and slide it under or over the small disk. Once it is under or over pull out the CD-R somewhat fast with the small disk stuck on the tape. This should do the trick

  • Re: Macbook pro 2.2 core 2 duo front bezel removal Feb 19 @ 1:54 PM

I wouldn't recommend replacing the front display bezel on the display. It is a challenging repair and only someone experienced should do it. I have been doing repairs on mac computers for 2 years and have done over a 1000 repairs and hate doing front bezels on macbook pros. You will more than likely crack the display because you have to bend back the rear housing with a black stick and then gently separate the bezel from the LCD by forcing the black stick in between the display and the bezel because it is double-sided taped all around. Also, the bezel almost never looks right when you put it back on. I would suggest leaving it cracked if the LCD still works.
