Fix broken ram slot in 12" PowerBook? Feb 15 @ 9:03 AM
I have a 12" 1.5 ghz PowerBook that does not recognize any additional ram that I install. Is there any way (other than a new logic board) to repair the ram slot?

I just wanted to leave you a short comment concerning your survey. I do not understand question # 5. It seems to me to be a rather vague question. I do not understand if you want to know what hardware problems I have faced, or what problems I have faced following guides? Maybe you could reword it to help clarify your meaning.
Just a thought.
Re: Fixed 12 in G4 PB cant eject wrong disc from drive. Mar 15 @ 1:28 PM
You can check the screws that you installed under the keyboard (just on top of the optical drive) if they are too long they will prevent the PowerBook from ejecting the CD. That is what happened to me. You really have to be careful that you put in the right length of screw. If it is just a little bit too long the CD will insert easily but when trying to eject it will catch on the screw (particularly the center one, the ones on each end aren't as critical) and get stuck. Try removing just the center screw. I'll bet that you will then be able to eject the CD.

I just wanted to add my vote for iMac guides, at least for the more recent models (G5 and up.)
Re: Fix broken ram slot in 12" PowerBook? Feb 23 @ 3:12 PM
I found some PC2700 ram and it recognized it right away :-) I would just like to say a big Thank you to miro for your suggestion to make sure that I was using the right Ram type. I had just assumed that the 867mhz PowerBook used the same type of Ram as the 1.5ghz PowerBook. Thanks again.
Re: Tiger or Leopard Feb 18 @ 12:36 PM
Actually you can install Leopard on the Titanium 867 and 1ghz PowerBooks if you have enough Ram. There are also ways to install Leopard on any Titanium PowerBook with a utility called "Leopardassist"

Thank you. I will try to find a PC2700 module and try it out.
Re: Fix broken ram slot in 12" PowerBook? Feb 17 @ 2:29 PM
Thank you for your replies. I did use a known good module from another 12" PowerBook (867mhz) but now that you mention it, I realize that they are PC2100. Will the PC2100 module not be recognized at all in system profiler?
Thanks again for your answers.
1.33ghz logic brd. in 867mhz 12" PowerBook? Mar 14 @ 6:12 PM
I was wondering if anyone knows whether I can replace the logic board in an 867mhz 12" PowerBook with a 1.33 ghz 12" PowerBook logic board? The problem I am having with my 12" PowerBook 867mhz is that it will not format a Hard Drive. I tried using a known good Hard Drive from another PowerBook, I have tried changing the Hard drive ribbon connecter with a known good one from another PowerBook and I still always get an error (initialization failed: I/O error) when trying to format and install OS X. I can boot and run from the install DVD and it will see the Hard Drive in disk utility but it will not recognize it when it comes time to install. If I try to format it I get the above mentioned I/O error. I am inclined to think that it has a bad logic board and I have the opportunity to buy a logic board from a 1.33 ghz 12" PowerBook for cheap but I want to know first if it will fit inside an 867mhz PowerBook or if anyone has any other ideas as to what else might be causing the errors?
Thanks in advance!
