  • Answer to: I have a DELL XPS L501x laptop.

Please have a look at the following possible solutions to your problem: 1. Take the battery out of the laptop & try to turn on the laptop using power adapter only. If the computer turns on, then the battery is defective & needs to be replaced. 2. Make sure your dell XPS L501 power adapter is not defective. Test the output voltage of the power adapter using a voltmeter. Compare the voltmeter reading to the nominal value written on the adapter or the laptop. 3. Make sure the DC jack is not loose or broken. A loose DC jack will need to be re-soldered. A broken one will need to be replaced. 4. If you have another processor which is compatible with your laptop's model, try swapping processors & test to see if the laptop will work. 5. The power button could be bad 6. The motherboard could be defective & needs to be replaced.
  • Answer to: not charger please help me

it sounds like one of three things: 1. Battery itself no longer functions 2. Laptop Charger has inadequate amperage 3. The motherboard is defective (most likely). If you have another battery, or a friend with the same battery, you can try that first (and someone else's laptop charger). If the problem is the motherboard, you can try to have it repaired but I don't trust many companies to do this kind of work. I outsource my motherboard jobs to a company called Laptop Rescue (http://www.laptoprescue.com/laptop-repair-2/). Coincidentally, they also sell laptop chargers in case that's the problem. Hopefully it's just a charger or battery issue and not a motherboard.
  • Answer to: My dell laptop not charging

The solution to your problem lies in one of the following three areas: 1.) Your dell power charger is faulty and is therefore not able to pass power to your laptops battery. 2.) The charging connector on the laptop has come loose from the contacts. Therefore a bad connection. 3.) Your battery is faulty. I think possibility 2 is the most likely, although you will have to test possibility 3 by removing the battery and plugging in your charger and seeing if the laptop powers on.If it does power on then that rules out possibility 1 and 2 leaving a faulty battery.
  • Answer to: laptop is not turning on

Here below are possible causes and troubleshooting steps of laptop that can't power on, hope it may help: Possible causes: 1. AC adapter failure. 2. Power jack failure. 3. Motherboard failure. Possible troubleshooting steps and repair solutions: 1. Test the AC adapter with a digital multimeter. It's possible that you have a failed AC adapter. If you don't have a multimeter, test your laptop with another known good AC adapter. 2.It's possible that power jack (socket where you plug the AC adapter) is broken. Remove the motherboard and take a closer look at the power jack. In some cases you can fix the jack by resoldering it on the motherboard. In other cases you have to replace the jack with a new one. Using a multimeter, test if the power goes to the motherboard through the jack. 3. If replacing the AC power adapter and jack on the motherboard doesn't help, most likely you have a bad motherboard. Replace the motherboard.
  • Answer to: How do I access the battery charger connector?

You need to get the DC Power Jack Either Repaired or replaced...this is the "female" port where your plugs into.. To Repair the current DC Jack...First you'll need to look closely at the Positive posts to see that they are not broken.. If visibally ok.. then you can look at the Solder Connections.. they will need to first be Desoldered.. Cleaned, then Resoldered back in place.
  • Answer to: Why does laptop turn off when not connected to charger?

Perhaps your battery is dead. So please try a new battery to check out. If it is the same and in no avail. You may check other issues: There may be a hardware failure with the laptop not the AC charger. AC chargers have some range of protections of their own. If the power requirements of the laptop are bigger then what the charger can handle, the charger will turn off. Also other parameters can bring the charger offline. In your case, you have a problem with a small chip, the battery charge controller unit, witch regulates the amount of current required to propperly charge the battery. When this thing fails, the charging requirements for the battery are reported rong and the AC charger is forced to give more power then necesary. This results in disconnection of the AC charger ( an internal fail safe of the AC charger) and the laptop to swich back to battery power. When the laptop is turned off, it can charge the battery because the power requirements are low, having all processor, main board, hard disk etc tu...
