    xnriqux - Thank you I will try these steps today and report my results. Kathy - Were you still under the Apple Care plan when you brought your machine in? This machine is almost 6 years old and I didn't think they would even look at it. Edit: I ordered a new Magsafe charger and it is working for now. I looked at my old charger nad one of the pins was mashed down inside of the adapter. I don't understand why it would not charge with my Mom's charger. I will edit this post once the battery charges to verify that this is what fixed it.
