Answer to: Broken ir connector(?), possibly to run without?

While installing an new SD in my Mac Mini 2011 (i7) just managed to pull the whole connector and socket from the board... Talk about clumsy !! I reassembled the machine and it boots and works fine. I just hope that this connector only carries IR signal and that I just lost the capability to control the mac through remote. Any ideas if my hypothesis is right ? Thanks in advance
