  • Answer to: Black screen on boot but chime sounds

I would bet money you have a in-line p link fuse or the WLED driver which is a QFN chip blown. Your going to need to need some real expertise to test the QFN chip with very fine probe tips to test it and there is a possibility of shorting the board cause the contacts are so close. Me personally? I would change them both but soldering a QFN is extremely hard youtube QFN and you can see what i'm talking about.
  • Answer to: Can I open a 2nd Generation iPod Shuffle to dry it out?

Of course you can you here iPod Shuffle 2nd Generation Teardown if it was mine personally I would use some rubbing alcohol and fine toothbrush to clean it up a bit and rinse it with distilled water ,shake it out let it dry , do not use a hair dryer to speed it up you can melt solder unless you have a no heat option , good luck.
  • Answer to: spilled water on keyboard at startup screen would turn on then off

Either you have a damaged in line P link fuse or the WLED driver has blown. You need some skills to test those. The WLED driver chip is very difficult to test I would not recommend trying to test that unless you have expertise you can short the board. Soldering that chip is a QFN chip and is very hard to do also. It may be one or the other. Sorry if this is'nt much help but this is a very difficult repair. Your best bet would be to sell the board for what its worth and buy a new one or have a repair shop that does component level repair to fix it.
  • Answer to: Safe boot startup required MacBook Pro

Pop in your installation disc boot from it , run disk permissions on your drive and see if that helps first.
  • Answer to: Split coffee on MacBook and parts are not working?

You may need a new top case because I don't think you can get to parts of the power button connector. That's a preety nice you mac you got I would invest in the top case even used on ebay if you want to save money. You can always try to look for any residue and pop the keys off (youtube that) and clean all over with high grade alcohol if it was me I would take and soak the top case for a couple hours in 99 percent alcohol wash it off and let it dry if i thought it was real bad and planned on buyin a new top case. You motherboard needs to be examined awell when the keyboard is off you may have more damage that can come back to haunt you. I've cleaned more than 80 percent of liquid damaged macs and almost always it was just the keyboard. If you feel comofortable removing the whole motherboard there are powerpads that are used to jump start the board you can try turning it on and off with those that will tell if you if have a problem with the logicboard or the keyboard.
  • Answer to: Wont run with battery installed

I've soaked boards just liked that in alcohol 99% for a bit and still have'nt gotten it to bounce back without replacing chips or resistors etc from another board you can try to clean it a little better and hope that will help, Battery problems from liquid spills on macbooks is the hardest I've had to try to fix. Make shure your blowing the board out with some air pressure maybe even try some denatured alcohol I used to use that on ladys Iphones that would have baby formula in it.
