Diid you try to clean the logic board with isopropyl alcohol (90% or higher?) If not I would try to clean the connector areas and see if that allows the LCD to function. If it does not I would try cleaning the whole board and see if that fixes the issue. -

A new screen will run you less than a third of what you yourself quoted. It sounds evident that you damaged the screen and digitizer cables. If there is no damage to these connectors on the logic board, I would go ahead and buy a new one and hope for the best. -

Try cleaning the LCD socket on the logic board with distilled water and isopropyl alcohol. In my experience, no backlight was solved by carefully cleaning debris and corrosion. -

I would open it and clean the logic board of corrosion with distilled water and isopropyl alcohol (91+%). Be careful when trying to detach the LCD and digitizer cables -- I would suggest to soak them without detaching them because they may have become weak and brittle from corrosion. -
