you can save a lot of money and a lot of headache if you take it to a computer repair place where they specialize in this type of thing. not an apple repair agent, all they'll do is tell you itll be 1200 to replace the logic board. there are shops that do business on ebay or other online merchants, who are highly reputable, and they have 90% success rates. i think they do something like clean it in an ultrasonic, then replace the burned out capacitors, which i think is the only problem your logic board should have at this time, as corrosion is very unlikely in this time frame. depending on who you send it to itll be $300-400, if they can fix it and free if they cant! whats to lose?

yes you can. you dont need a special connector or anything. any standard sata 2.5" ssd drive work natively. the corsair realSSD is the best i've seen, since its a sata-III drive, and your shiny new macbook pro just happens to ship with a sata-III port! those are expensive though, and honestly, in real life situations, you wont notice the speed difference between it and say, a cheapo kingston SSDNow, which you can probably find on ebay or amazon for like $150 (128gb)

unfortunately no, you see its not just the logic board that was changed in the new 13", the camera is now an HD cam, and has a very specific port on the new logic board that your older camera cannot plug into. the way the bluetooth and airport card connect is entirely different too. the new macbook pro use an airport card and bluetooth card that are integrated into the sub-woofer, where as the old ones were located under the clutch cover and next to the webcam, respectively. your airport and bluetooth share the port of the webcam, where as the new logicboard dedicates a plug just for bluetooth and airport, and a plug just for the hd cam. these would be the obstacles you would have to endure if you were to change your logic board, which means you would need to buy a whole brand new display case with the hd cam, a new sub/speaker system (right speaker changed slightly as well) with the new airport card, and a new bluetooth card. it would probably cost you more to buy all these parts than to buy a new macbook.

no, for one thing the i/o on the new logic board wouldnt match up with the holes on the enclosure. the other problem is that the batteries are different on the macbook unibody and macbook pro, they connect via different plugs. the third incompatibility is the hdd sata cable, which has changed significantly between the two models. it would be theoretically possible, if you want to recut the holes in the unibody, and somehow mod your case to take the new battery and sata cable, but for practicality it isnt. fyi, if all you are looking for is to make the keyboard light up, you can buy the backlight (probably off ebay) and add that to your system. your existing logic board already has the plug (just to the right of the keyboard ribbon). you would have to take apart the entire thing except for the keyboard, put the backlight in place, reassemble, then plug the backlight in to the existing socket. the buttons f4 and f5 would function to turn it down and up.
