    Thanks Joel, I was able to fix the problem... it appears that the button itself was damaged, I didn't realize it because it was my first x-box tear-down. The piece that extends into the hole where the actual button to eject the Rom was to short..... So I applied heat to the nub to make the plastic soft enough to push a sewing needle in it... then cut the needle to the right length...dropped a small ball of solder on the cut end of the needle to round it off so it wouldn't damage the actual button and it has been working fine... I am not sure if something broke/fell off the silver eject button or fell/broke off the CD/DVD ROM button but either way it has been working so far.... thanks for the response
