Answer to: new batteries have "?" in battery icon
If you look at your batteries and the connector for your battery on your phone, there are 4 pins. This should be the same on all Motorola android phones including the Droid 2. Only 2 of those pins provide power (Plus and minus). The other 2 pins are a data connection with your phone, they provide battery info such as charge levels. Inside the battery is a chip that monitors and controls the charge for the batteries and provide a battery meter info for you phone. Make sure those 4 pins are clean on both the phone and the battery pack. There is also the possibility that the batteries you purchase on eBay are a 3rd party knock off and not provide the necessary data connections to provide the phone with your battery levels and so on are missing. I would try to go with original or OEM batteries from Motorola first. You can also look for 3rd party batteries form repeatable dealers or retailers. -
Answer to: Will the Droid work with the camera removed?
I want to say no for this. It is possible that removing the camera from the printed circuit board might disturb lines and break circuit paths making the phone not work. But this is speculative at best. If you got to remove the camera, keep a note of what pin goes where and you will want to go slowly. Make a disconnect 1 pin at a time, and test after each disconnect. Which would include powering and unpowering the phone with each pin being disconnected. Try to desolder connections rather than cut in case you need to undo any changes you make. If you discover a line/ pin that has to be connected, you could bridge that gap with very thin wire. Again this is just an educated guess on my part considering I heard very, very few demands for a camera-less Motorola droid. Alternatively you could disable the camera with opaque material such as black plastic or metal foil, but that would depend how your work environment defines a functional camera or even if they allow a non functional camera at all. I hope this helps y... -
Answer to: How can I get my droid to power up?
Did you try a different usb cable or charger? Most newer Motorola Android phones (including the Droid) accepts a standard micro USB connection. Use of a standard micro sub data cable works when charging off the PC. As for USB charging adapters, Motorola phones that accept micro USB will not charge of most regular USB charge adapters. Those USB adapters rated for Motorola phones, Apple iPhones and sometimes some universal phone chargers will work. You can also wire up a small adapter to trick Motorola android phones to charge from a regular USB adapter by connecting the 2 pin/ data - (usually a white wire) and pin 3 data + (usually green) http://pinouts.ru/Slots/USB_pinout.shtml This will trick Motorola Android phones that they are on a legit charger and charge the battery. Make sure the 2 crossed wires are on the side going into the phone. Cutting and splicing a USB extension cord will do the trick if you do not feel like modifying an existing USB adapter. -
Answer to: My console wont power on
Adding to BWest response, their one area on the SNES that is not mentioned. On the SNES board for US, Japanese and European models. There is a small fuse solder directly to the mother board. This type of fuse is called a pico fuse, and the ones used in the SNES is rated at 1.5 amps. The fuse is located near the connector that the power switch connects too Test for continuity on the fuse with a multi-meter or other such tool. If the fuse is bad you can 1. look for a replacement Pico fuse, or 2. use a more conventional glass fuse ether rated at 1.5 amps. Pico fuses are hard to find and can be expensive. If you are using a conventional glass fuse make sure to solder a fuse holder in place instead of the actual fuse to avoid damage to the fuse and to add to ease of repair if the fuse blows out again. -

Answer to: No sim card message on iTunes
Try to clean the contacts of the Sim card, and if you can, the sim card reader. The Sim Card it self can be cleaned with a clean pencil eraser, using a light rubbing action. This would get off any dirt or oxidation. You can also use rubbing alcohol on a cotton swab or q-tip to clean the contacts. The sin card port/ reader it self, is a slightly different matter, if you can clearly see the contacts and reach them just fine, the process above would work. You can also try some compress air to blow out any dirt or foreign objects. If none above works (last resort measure since this will void your warranty), you might have to disassemble your iPhone. -
Answer to: How do I replace the existing monitor's display panel?
Replacing the display panel in a laptop is a slightly different issue than a LCD Monitor. There are manufactured replacement screens for MacBooks and other laptops for this purpose. As far as TV sets and Computer Monitors, the golden age of DIY TV/ Monitor repair is a quickly dying art, you will be hard press to find a replacement screen for your Monitor. This is what the text books would call a field replaceable unit. A field replaceable unit means you are better of replacing the part/ device over trying to repairing it. This is both for practical, economical and safety reasons parts would be considered Field replaceable units. This would include, DVD Drives, Power Supply Units, Mother Boards, and yes Monitors. If you manage to find a spare, functional display panel, the actual procedure would be similar to a laptops. I would get a digital camera for this one, and take photos after every step. Neatly and carefully arrange all parts, so you an find them later, take alot of notes, and take extra measure to not... -
