  • Answer to: What is the maximum RAM that the board in the 2011 21" iMac can take?

Hi Mayer, the Everymac website says "Officially, this model supports four 4 GB modules -- one in each slot for a maximum of 16 GB of memory. However, third-parties have discovered that it actually will support 32 GB of memory using four 8 GB modules." what do you think? is the 32 GB correct info?
  • Answer to: Any easier to remove stand?

are you 100% sure about The 21.5" iMac (2011 model) has a non removeable stand? i will make an international fly for more than 14 hours and i was counting on removing the stand to take in the cabin luggage. There is no way i will send it in the luggage compartment. If it not removeable that could be trouble. I don't understand the imacmount link...and how that is related to remove the stand...you just use an adapter. Any help on this? Thanks

  • Answer to: Black screen on power up

By the way, i am reading in some forum that what the Technical Service might have done is just resetting the PMU of my iMac and charged me 80 euros for that. I feel a bit fool about it. I have no idea how they turned on the computer since i couldn't do it. Well everyday you learn something.
  • Answer to: Black screen on power up

Well, what can i said about this very weird failure. I took the iMac to the Technical Service. They told me the could do a free budget so why not. 2 Days later they call me with "Your iMac is Fixed now". What was the problem "We just reseted the Motherboard, is a common failure" Well that explanation seems a bit of BS to me. I know what they could do because i couldn't even turn it when i took it there. I don't know how they get it to turn it on. Maybe i should have taken the RAM away. Anyhow i used this iMac from 3 years now and i do smell a bit of burnt plastic in the back. I don't know if that is due to dust or something else. The iMac does work fine now, but i wouldn't like to go through this again. Beside the Technical Service did charge me an hour of work for this.
  • Answer to: Black Screen iMac

I have a white iMac "Core 2 Duo" 2.16 20-Inch (Late 2006) with the same problem. I started with the screen going black but the computer still on but after a while everything went off completly as if i unplugged from the power source. I haven't taken to the Service yet, but i talked to them and they said if it the Internal Display Power Supply or the Inverter it is a very expensive repair. They probably DO charge high anyhow, not many good services in Spain. So does anybody know a trustable source of getting spare parts of iMac in the States? I did check eBay but could not find a bit on iMac Intel White, there is more stuff on G5 models. Cheers,
