Re: 12" iBook G4 not booting and fan spinning out of control. Nov 2 @ 9:13 AM
a chip set on the motherboard that's solder points wear loose from the movement with in the comp every time you hit the power button, if you're experienced with a soldering iron, youll see it... if your not dont try to fix this find some one who is! the site i linked also described how the dutch gov. is forcing apple to take responsibility for this design flaw, but that is the only place in the world they are taking responsibility.

i fixed my problem i think, this is where i found my issue http://www.appleinsider.com/articles/07/...
my advice to anyone who may have this same problem is bring out the soldering iron and get ready to hate life for a while... this(referring to the info at the website if found my issue at) along with the data loss problem with the new os apple released. makes me rethink my statement that apple is built with tape glue and headaches, let me add lies and deceit to that, i think ill stick with building my own comp. and running Linux.
p.s. make sure to try resetting the pmu and letting the comp. sit not plugged in with no battery in it for a few hours, then try booting before you break open the comp. and get dirty with the soldering iron. you could save your self from having to remove about 50 something screws and buying new thermal paste

ya but i need to find out how to fix it cause u bought it of a friend so i cant take it back
ifixit has a tear down of the 3rd gen ipod, if i remember correctly the wheel plugs into the logic board through ribbon cable (every thing apple is held together with tape glue and headache) buy a replacement wheel it should be an easy fix,... well its never that easy to open an ipod but beyond that....
12" iBook G4 not booting and fan spinning out of control. Nov 1 @ 3:51 PM
I dont know much about Macs, trying to fix for a family member. Ive tried all the key combinations for resetting pmu i can find, ive opened the lap top looking for a way to reset a cmos that i learned macs dont have... The laptop dosnt boot and the fan spins out of control when any type of power is applied and the power button is punched, but once the fan starts there is no way of shutting down the comp. with out removing the power or resetting the pmu with the key combo. Is there any way for me to tell (like some type of audible sound comparable to a post) if maybe the processor is dead or if the comp just isnt passing its self test? ive read that there is a temperature chip somewhere on/near the processor that can go bad and if removed can save(until the processor really overheats and burns up i guess) a laptop
thanx,
daniel
