Check the LCD. If your MacBook is still under warranty I suggest you take it in for warranty replacement on the LCD. Otherwise replace your display. -

i came to a conclusion that this is a logicboard issue based on the following: when i did a target disk the hdd could boot on another machine but not the other way around. fsck command reported no errors. removed the airport card and now the machine gets stuck after loading login window app.
