Product Details Edit
Locks are found on all types of devices and products, and in the time it took you to read this sentence, tens of thousands of keys have been lost across the United States. In the IT field these are a common tool for opening computer cases and racks with long lost keys. Also found in most master mechanics toolboxes, roadside help trucks, and home handymen’s toolboxes.
A tension wrench and 9 popular styles of picks and rakes, neatly wrapped in a fancy iFixit canvas tool roll. Even though this looks like part of a sweet Ninja kit, we strongly recommend you do not get caught out on the street at night wearing dark clothing carrying this. Local police and prosecutors do not like Ninjas.
We did some in-house testing at iFixit, and in the hands of inexperienced first time pickers, door locks and padlocks were popping open in 30 seconds to 3 minutes.

My Problem
My 3 year old AT&T iPhone 4 had a temperamental Home Button and a battery that had lost a lot of its capacity. I decided to replace the two components to extend the life of the iphone until the next generation is released (iPhone 5s? iPhone 6?)
My Fix
The repair was how-to story of what NOT to do. I took great care during assembly, but I wasn't careful enough. I didn't realize that while trying to separate the screen from the frame, I was pulling against the two ribbon cables. I ended up damaging the longer of the two cables which is responsible for the digitizer function. The damage either occurred during the separation or the re-assembly. Be absolutely sure that the longer cable is fed through all the way and not folded upon itself. Upon re-assembly I had a perfectly functioning Home Button and a new battery but a phone that had no digitizing function...esse
My Advice
When reinstalling the screen, triple check to make sure that the longer, thinner screen ribbon cable is pulled through fully and not folded onto itself.
My Problem
The device had been dropped, breaking the display/digitiz
My Fix
I broke the first digitizer because I hadn't thoroughly cleaned the area where the glass sits. The second attempt was better and I got it together without too much problem.
My Advice
Make sure the digitizer cable is correctly folded back on itself otherwise it will interfere with the display seating correctly. Use enough stickum on the edges where the display assembly sits. Be very careful and don't force anything.
My Problem
I lost the keys of a lock, which close my garden's house.
It was a very secure lock that I can't cut (it's a S10 security).
My Fix
So I try to lockpicking it ! It takes me about one hour to open it because I have absolutely no experience with this tool.
But it works !
My Advice
It's an addictive tool, be careful ! Once you try, you will try to open other locks or door, just for fun.
My Problem
My laptop's WiFi card is giving me a headache, so I purchased the WiFi card and realize that I don't have the tools to actually replace it. So I saw that iFixit is having a Black Friday deal, AWESOME! Purchased it and wait for 3 days (international shipment) and the item arrived! After opening the package, directly I replace my WiFi card, as expected from iFixit, all the screws size are there!
My Fix
I goes flawlessly, no trouble at all thanks to iFixit who provides all the necessary tools and also the guide!
My Advice
Check the guide and buy the tools from iFixit, trust me, you won't regret!
My Problem
Macbook Pro logic board died; Apple wanted $600 for a repair, found a replacement on Ebay for $100.
My Fix
iFixit guide was invaluable. Opened the machine, removed old logic board, removed heat sinks, put everything back together with a new board, all working, everyone happy. The iFixit super-duper screwdriver kit was a joy to use.
My Advice
Read the repair guides before you start. Get tools from iFixit.

My Problem
No current problem. I believe in being prepared, though.
My Fix
See above.
My Advice
While I'm happy with the material I received, I would have liked a bit more comprehensive set of tools. Some simple additions and modifications to the stethoscope would have made it more useful. Likewise for the lock pick set.
My Problem
Got one to pick.
My Fix
Have not had a chance to use the set yet.
My Advice
Looks like a good set.
My Problem
I have been building and repairing my own and friends computers for over 25 years. I made do with what tools I had and special tricks I learned with heavy paper clips. One look at the Pro Tech Toolkit, Magnetic Mat and the Lock Pick set I knew I had seen tool repair nirvana!
I thought that the iBook and PowerBook were hard computers to open, try swapping out a Dell slot load DVD, these tools would have made that ordeal a snap.
My Fix
Next job will be a snap.
My Advice
Buy good quality tools, the right tool, the right job and your repairs will be cleaner and go smoother.
My Problem
I replaced the hard drive because of the SMART Status told me the drive was going bad and to back up every thing you can.
My Fix
I-Fixit made my job Soo easy with great Instructions, Both Printed as well as photos. When you buy the proper tool's the job and read the instruction's more than once or twice It's just is no BIG DEAL.
My Advice
Yes I would recommend some double sided sticky Tape or rubber cement to hold down the sensor on the hard drive. Some towels from Harbor Freight worked fantastic for dust removal as well as canned air be carful of getting TOO CLOSE.
also a small paint brush to help dust.
