Product Details Edit

The iFixit Pro Tech Toolkit has become the industry standard for electronics work, from garage hackers to government agency personnel. Now contained in a sleek grey tool roll, the Pro Tech Toolkit will come with you wherever something needs to be repaired. Designed by the gadget fanatics that bring you teardowns, the Pro Tech Toolkit will have you tearing down devices that aren’t even broken, just to use the cool tools.

Build a business. ¶

If none of your stuff is broken, maybe your friends’ stuff is! Cell phone repair is a booming self-starting business, with students, stay-at-home parents, and entrepreneurs all joining in to fix phones for their friends and locals, while making good profit for themselves. Apple sold 37 million iPhones in the 4-month holiday season of 2011. Thousands of people use our site every day to fix those iPhones and even more simply throw out their broken iPhones. You could be making those phones go again, with the help of this tool kit. By the time you’ve fixed five phones, this kit will have paid for itself.

Keep your family's gear working. ¶

You don’t have to be a repair technician to find this kit useful, however. This kit is also great for anyone who has a few phones, tablets, and laptops around the house. Our 54 bit toolkit, and the various poking, prodding, opening, measuring, and grabbing tools that come with it, will keep all your your home’s electronics in working order. When a screen breaks or a battery dies, you’ll save money because you won’t have to replace the whole device.

In addition to our thousands of repair professional and home tinkering customers, this kit has become very popular with domestic and international top secret intelligence agencies with three-letter names we can’t name here. Oh, and we’ve also sold kits to some computer company named after a fruit (not a pear or orange)—and many of their competitors use the kits internally.

Includes: ¶

My Fix

This toolkit is everything you need to tackle electronic repairs. I have bought many kits before, even plastic pry tools and they would always bend easy and break. This kit solves those issues, easy to keep everything organized and not lose your tools.

My Advice

Anyone looking to repair devices should invest in this kit rather then cheap out on inferior tools which will easily break, or not machined properly enough to even fit the bit sizes they were made for.

My Advice

Well....I went through the Navy Advanced Electronic Program and have been a technician most of my life and fix all sorts of electronic gear. Now I am out..and, of course, have my own tool kit, however, your tool kit is the best I've seen so far.

Everything is well organized...and well thought out. I even love the driver. Finally!! a driver that is feels good in my hands.

Good Job guys..I'll be keeping an eye on your new additions.

Anyone getting started in the tech field..simply cannot go wrong with this kit.

Don't forget your anti-static pad!

My Problem

I am a technician and we have been passing around the $5 coupon for iFixit so we could all order the Base Toolkit. It came to my turn and I joyfully ordered it, along with a couple of other essentials.

Any repairs using the kit have gone swimmingly. It seems to have everything I need and then some.

My Problem

I had cracked my brand new iPhone 4s digitizer just 2 days after the complimentary 30 day insurance period from at&t. I had to get it fixed immediately because I couldn't spend one more day without siri.

My Fix

Everything went surprisingly well. I'm now much more confident thanks to the in depth guide from ifixit.

My Advice

Don't forget the dust screen from the back of the old digitizer(the on that covers the ear speaker)! I did, and didn't notice it until it was all put back together. You can cut it out with a hobby knife, cut the molded plastic not the screen it self. Also make sure you don't pinch your power/sleep button ribbon cable during reassembly. I forgot to connect mine and pinched it under the logic board. Not until I disassembled again did I realize why my power/sleep button wasn't working.

My Problem

The battery in my 3rd ten iPod lasted 20 minutes. It was try to fix it or use it as a paper weight.

My Fix

The screen removal was the hardest by far. In the end the plastic frame and all the plastic tools were broken. The rest of it seemed to go smoothly but the iPod never came back on. it was probably the soldering. Too hot and you kill the logic board, too much solder and the connections cross and you kill the logic board, metal spudger touches too many things at once and kills the logic board.

My Advice

I need to get a better soldering iron, and practice with it. iPhones with screws and ribbon cables are so much easier than this.
