My Problem

LCD screen always turned off randomly...

My Fix

Highly involved, followed the really helpful guide for replacing inverter for the Santa Rose/ Penryn model. The process took about 3 hours with cleaning.

My Advice

You'll notice your computer may be really dusty, in the process of cleaning make sure you don't have screws attach to components and then flip them upside down...

My Problem

My 2006 macbook's screen was entering seizure mode. The screen would flicker on and off. The internet said it was most likely the inverter and/or the inverter cable.

My Fix

It was the first time I opened my mac to that degree. It lasted 2-3 hours to take it apart and put it back together. The guides were super helpful and it went super smoothly (besides a couple of shredded screws and what not). I replaced the inverter successfully but the problem persists. I believe it's the inverter cable as it looked pretty messed up.

My Advice

Replace the inverter and the inverter cable at the same time, you don't want to have to open it again if you replace the wrong thing!

My Problem

Poorly functioning home button on a nearly 2 year old iPhone 4. It was either try to fix it or cough up the skrilla for a new phone

My Fix

It went well except for breaking the corner off of the logic board. I didn't realize there was a specific guide for the Verizon version and I missed a screw hiding under some tape. I managed to piece it back together and everything seems to work fine so I guess I got everything grounded sufficiently.

My Advice

Like the video, having a screw tray or separate cup for each step's screws makes it so much easier to get back together.

Also, the logic board comes out much easier if all the screws are removed...

My Problem

Dead iPhone 4 dock connector, no reaction to charger.

My Fix

Everything vent perfect, thank you iFixit for cool guide and great service!

Package delivery was quick, all tools are brand new and properly packed. Thumbs up!

My Advice

Check video guide also, sometimes there is few tiny tricks that would be easy to follow.

My Problem

repair the fan of my macbook

My Fix

gone very well with your guides and tools!

My Advice

the cost of the custormer was like 25 usd cause you write on the envelope pc parts..

was so expensive!

My Problem

Had the dock connector fried by a power outage.

My Fix

Stressful but was able to successfully fix the phone. Was very proud of myself.

My Advice

Make sure you have some way to organize what you pull out and which screws go to where. Also make sure you won't lose the screws either.

My Problem

The rear panel was crushed. I was afraid that water/humidity could enter the phone and destroy it. I like the iPhone and hope it will work for a few more years. PS, I still have the first iPhone1 and it still works.(Backup phone). So I decided to fix it and found ifixit on the web.

My Fix

The panel arrived in my mailbox after a very few days. I was lucky and did not have to pay any additional customs or VAT to the Norwegian gov as well. First I went through the installation process on your website and after that the new panel was replaced in only 5 minutes. Picture shows before and after. That saved my a lot of money. Apple in Norway charges about $ 200 for the ex

My Advice

My advice is that this fix is easier than I thought. I´ve read that you should never open an iPhone because it will be damaged either by static or wrong use of tools and never work again. I can strongly recommend to do this and I will not hestitate to do it again, hopefully not with my own phone...

My Problem

When you pay high prices for stuff, you'd expect them to work. And if stuff goes bad, pay a small amount to fix stuff.

I was offered to have my iPhone 4 fixed for the humble price of 333€. I said no way!

Ordered my kit for less than a third of that, and voila! It's alive!!

My Fix

With a fair amount of doubt in my mind I started with the pentalobes. 1.5h later finished the operation assuming I must've forgotten something..

But(t) plugged it to the charger and away it went!

Connected to iTunes and had to reboot, reinstall and reboot and reinstall.

And now my iPhone 4 works like a charm..for now..

My Advice

Go slow and thoroughly examine each step twice before you execute the task given in the guide.

No need to take out the sim nor the logic board!

I'm an expert on loosing stuff, especially small stuff. So I had 5-6 small plastic boxes in front of me where I put all the screews in cronological order! It was a major help when reassembling!!

My Problem

My MacBook is over 4 years old and never really read discs well since the day I bought it. It would spin them around for a while and then eject them, and usually I'd just keep re-feeding it until the disc was finally accepted, but when I tried to upgrade my OS to Snow Leopard a couple of months ago, it just wouldn't take! I tried everything I could think of before I finally just accepted that I'd have to take it in to an Apple store to replace the whole drive, or consider buying an external one. However, in my search for purchasing an external optical drive, I stumbled across the iFixit.com website and it planted the seed in my mind: why pay someone else to do what I could probably do myself?

My Fix

I threw on some good lighting, some comfortable clothes, and got to work. Once I had the correct size screwdriver in hand, I was able to get going! I have never in my entire life tried to take apart anything electronic, much less put it back together when I'm finished. Honestly, I can hardly put batteries into flashlights correctly! But the guide seemed easy and clearly written, so I gave it a go. I did the entire thing by myself, losing only one screw in the process, and held my breath once I powered my MacBook back on. It lived! And even better, it accepted my Snow Leopard OS disc immediately. This drive works even better than the one that came with my computer!

My Advice

Even though the guide calls for size #0, #00, and #000, and I bought all three, you really only need the size #000. I did the entire thing with just that one screwdriver. Also, keep track of which screws go where! I put a short screw into a long screw spot and effectively lost it into the abyss. It fell out on it's own 10 min later when I wasn't paying attention, and I couldn't find it anywhere. Either it defied the laws of physics or my cat found it. I'd put money on the latter scenario ;)

My Problem

I bought a used iphone 4 with a bad battery.

My Fix

I found the knowledge, tools and battery on ifixit. If I said it took me five minutes, I would be exaggerating. Idon't think it took that long.

My Advice

Follow the directions. Anyone with half a talent can do it.
