My Problem
After charging overnight my battery would go to red line in a few hours.
My Fix
The repair went very smoothly. The hardest part was getting the ipod apart. The 7 Philips screws were difficult. Of the 7, 5 came out ok, but 2 had head damaged by the time I was done.... but there was enough left to reassemble though, so all worked out well.
My Advice
One important piece of advice. The ifixit instructions list a #00 Philips screwdriver under tools however I needed a #0000 Philips to get the screws out.
My Problem
Had to separate the glass from the case to make the proper electrical contacts for the inductive coil.
My Fix
Using a metal spudger was probably overkill. I made a few small scratches around the curves with it.
My Advice
Take your time and don't force the spudger too hard. Be careful around the curves.
My Problem
I broke the glass on my Ipod Touch 4 Gen
My Fix
The repair was very difficult
My Advice
I watched the ifixit video which helped, but not very much
My Problem
Unlocked Iphone 1st Gen. battery kept dying.
The battery would go from 100 to 50 to dead in a 5 min. phone call.
My Fix
It took 15 minute to change it out. Super easy. The phone is working like a charm now. full charge. the battery never dies. like a brand new phone!
My Advice
Don't be intimidated by the reviews. It's very simple process. does't take 45 min! and it can save you a lot of money of replacing your phone. fix it, don't buy another!
My Problem
A customer dropped her 3GS and didn't want to pat AT&T $200.
My Fix
It was easy, I got the whole front assembly for her because I didn't want to have to transfer the home button and speaker over.
My Advice
Just take your time
My Problem
I got a business and decided to start repair iphone... saw your excellent guides and wanted the same tools as you used.
My Fix
FINE! Two Iphones fixed! (Broken screen)
My Advice
Maybe an updated screw-pdf, I missed one "circle" for a screw.
My Problem
My mac would not turn on. I checked the power cord and outlet and they were all fine. The Apple store said that since it was five years old that it was a "vintage" and they wouldn't be able to help me in any way.
My Fix
I found this sight and ordered a new power supply to put in it. The step by step photos and instructions were great! It just took a little bit of time, but I now have my mac back and it didn't cost me an arm and a leg.
My Advice
I would order the torex screwdriver if you don't have one. I have a set, but they were all too big. I then had to go on a hunt to find the T6. Lowes smallest one was a T7. (So close, but not small enough.) When I did find it, I paid more for it at the store than I would have if I just bought it from here.
My Problem
Iphone full color conversion to Pink
My Fix
Very well loved my metal spudger. it made separating surfaces easy. My 54 bit driver set made the job go faster.
My Advice
Buy tools from iFixit
My Problem
Battery replacement in Gen2 iPod Mini 6gig
My Fix
Velly Velly Smooooth... confidence is now such that a "Frankenstein" event is planned; itty bitty hard drive replacement with FLASH! memory = longer battery life + 5x[+] increase in storage... FrankenPod is coming...
My Advice
Metal and Plastic Spudger work very well for poking, provoking and assisting little tiny delicate[ish] parts into the one special little place they MUST live for most electronic [and seemingly ALL iPod] repairs
My Problem
Hard disk was receiving predictive failures. Had to remove a SD Card from the SuperDrive that my kids crammed in there.
My Fix
Opening up the iMac was a lot less stressful than I anticipated. Was prepared with the right tools.
My Advice
If you replace the hard disk with a non-Apple hard disk, make sure you short the jumpers for the heat sensor plugged into the original drive (just connect a wire to the end of each jumper lead and seal it off with electrical tape) or the system fans will get very loud. Wash your hands before removing the screen cover and the screen. Keep a microfiber cloth and cleaner handy. You will get them full of fingerprints.
