I went to upgrade to 10.9 and the system complained that the hard drive needed repairing. Using Disk Utility, I could not get the drive to repair or even format without complaint. Using fdisk allowed me to blow out the partitions and I was able to install but the OS was very sluggish. The drive was obviously in bad shape. The local certified Mac store wanted to charge $120 in labor. Doing it myself seemed the best option.
Swimmingly. The instructions were so easy to follow that I was able to do the hard drive swap while on a conference call for work.
Make sure your data is backed up. Go slow and take your time.

I was trying to switch from a regular hard drive to a 256GB SSD in my Mac mini,
The repair went excellent, almost no hitches at all.
The guide for this one says "to reassemble, follow these instructions in reverse". There are two things this may not work well for. The hard drive has to slot into two small holes. When taking this out, you do not notice these at all (they are not mentioned) and only discover them when you try to reassemble. The other is the hard drive data cable wants to pop off until you install the wifi antenna. This would be relevant information to include in the guide, as I was worried I did something wrong until I noticed the antenna puts pressure on it to keep it from coming loose once installed.

The second HDD of my Mac mini suffered from physical issues and needed replacement.
I ordered a 1Tb HDD and the HomeTech Toolkit and everything went smooth. I used to DIY on PCs but got a little bit scarred before getting my hands dirty on the MacMini ... but the EXCELLENT repair guide from iFixit made me confident in completing the task.
And voilà! 1 hour latter I was pretty proud of myself when my Macmini was successfully booting and recognizing my HDDs.
The secondary HDD (Macintosh HD2) is the one on the top (first one available) : no need to completely dismantle the board.

Battery was not holding charge for any length of time. My 4th generation iPod, was in great working condition, but it was not holding a charge for more then a half an hour.
Replacing the battery was very easy, the video and information on this site was right on. I was able to replace the battery with 15 minutes.
Trying to route the wires underneath the safety circuit was very difficult.....m

I wanted to install an SSD harddrive in the mac mini to speed things up a bit.
I followed the iFixit hard drive replacement guide för mac mini's late 2012 and it worked out perfectly.
The only thing that was a bit tricky was the metal encasing with the wifi-antenna attached to it. I could not manage to get it to fit right back the supposed way. It was simple a couple of mm to big. Using the two screws on the sides and working with them slowly and simultaneously I could eventuella pry it down in the right spot.
