My Problem

My Macbook Pro was overheating while gaming in Windows 7/bootcamp due to the terrible job that apple did applying thermal paste to my cpu and gpu at the factory.

My Fix

it went great! 100% and now my computer runs possibly better than when I first got it.

My Advice

Get the right tools

My Problem

make peoples day

My Fix

very good

My Advice

try it your self or bring it to someone that can do it for less than half of the price of the manufacture cost

My Problem

Either way I would need to open up the mac to get to the hard drive, and I compared getting the hard drive out to replacing the power supply and it was a tiny bit more involved, so instead of just getting the hard drive I offered to replace the power supply which i was pretty sure was the issue with the mac. My boss is a great guy, and has a great family, so I thought it would be worth it to at least try.

My Fix

the only issue I had was the metalic tape around the lcd screen, it was not easy to get off and tore quite a bit. I put all the bits back, and all I can say is I'm glad it would not be visible on the completed job...

I also had a bit of trouble getting the case to close afterwards, one corner would not go in all the way, it was about 98% in, not sure what was preventing it from going all the way... My boss was pleased and said not to worry about it.

My Advice

maybe a blow dryer to warm the metalic tape up before trying to take it off? it might come off easier?

My Problem

Battery not holding a charge for more than half the day.

My Fix

Repair was not bad, hardest part was getting the battery back in and seating the connector. The battery connector kept getting in the way until I realized I needed to fold it under so that I could seat the connector.

.

My Advice

I like to tinker but I don't know much about electronics so it would have been nice to have been told that I can or cannot use metal tools when removing the connector. I did not buy the plastic pry tool, I used a credit card to pry it off.

Also it was not entirely clear how and where to clean with windex. I used a q-tip and hoped for the best. A few photos or video of this would have been nice.

My Problem

I have a Mac Mini (Mid-2011) that already had two 500GB spin media that desperately needed the upgrade to SSDs.

My Fix

With the Spudger and 26-bit Driver kit + the Installing Mac Mini Mid 2011 Dual Hard Drive Kit Guide (http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Installing+M...) everything worked like a charm.

The detail guide instructions were excellent. The tools are high quality and top notch - definitely worth the value to get these tools. It took a couple hours but now my Mac Mini purrs with high random IOPs.

My Advice

You can use the tweezers included in the 26 Bit Driver kit to remove the tape between the SATA connector and the HDD. By doing so gently, you can easily re-use it when you put the SSD and SATA connector together.

My Problem

As the title says. I wanted more speed for the usual tasks - booting the notebook, opening applications, etc.

My Fix

Perfectly fine.

My Advice

Use the right tools and it'll be a breeze.

My Problem

I ran out of space on my main SSD, so I got a second one for the optibay.

My Fix

It's a nerve-wracking 20-30 minutes with some tiny connectors, but the iFixit tools and enclosure are excellent. The review, however, had pictures of pretty different Macbook Pro, so I had to go to Youtube to view a movie from OWC. Also, while it's simple, it took me a while to figure out how much force I needed to put on the SSD to snap it in place in the enclosure. It's a lot. If it's lined up, then go for the gusto.

My Advice

The reviews I read suggested that the Samsung 830 is the most reliable drive these days (and is what Apple installs). It's a bit more expensive than Crucial, but the Newegg Crucial reviews are not that good.

My Problem

I was attempting to replace the cd drive in my macbook with a seagate momentus, and found myself short on the tools needed so I opted to buy this package.

My Fix

The repair went... not as well as hoped. The screwdriver set was everything I had hoped for and more, it was brilliantly packaged and of great quality but unfortunately, it lacked the bit needed to take the final screws out of the monitor wiring platform to remove the cd drive. It may also have been that I stripped the screw... Anyhow, it was a great buy for my future projects but unfortunately I need to buy some screw extractors as well.

My Advice

Don't strip screws, folks.

My Problem

The coffee maker was improperly used causing brewed coffee to back up into the interior, coating the heating element and other components with grounds and brewed coffee. The condition was exaccerbated by an attempt to clean it by rinsing it under water. It was necessary to dissemble the coffee maker to clean components and remove debris and moisture from sensitive components.

My Fix

The repair went very well - and was possible only because the 26-bit driver kit arrived the same day as the mishap occurred. I couldn't have extracted the specialized chassis screws without the new tools.

My Advice

Common sense, really: dissemble carefully, take progress pictures for reference (if necessary) and sort and lable all screws and fasteners.

My Problem

Opening my MacBook Pro and replacing the hard drive.

My Fix

All is well.

My Advice

This screw set is pure gold.
