Add Note Edit Step 1 — PlayStation 2 Slimline Teardown  ¶ 

  • Take your PlayStation 2 Slimline and flip it upside down.

  • Remove the covers over the screws

  • Take a PH01 screwdriver and remove the five screws as marked on the image.

  • Be careful with the "Do not void" seal, you have to remove this for the last screw.

  • Remove all screws as seen in the picture.

  • Don't forget the screw under the seal.

  • Take a metal spudger to open the chassis.

Add Note Edit Step 3  ¶ 

  • When the chassis is open you see the motherboard with everything attached.

  • First remove the battery. Use a spudger to pry it out and pull the cable from the motherboard.

Add Note Edit Step 4  ¶ 

  • Three cables connect the optical drive to the motherboard. Just pull the flex cable out of the socket.

  • Take a PH01 screwdriver to remove the four screws of the optical drive.

  • Pull up the optical drive and try to peel the flex cable attached underneath the drive from the metal plate.

Add Note Edit Step 5  ¶ 

  • The fan is secured with three PH00 screws. Remove them.

  • Next peel up the duct tape and remove the cable.

Add Note Edit Step 6  ¶ 

  • Remove the four screws marked on the picture. They are located on the downside of the motherboard, so you have to turn it.

  • Then flip it again and remove the two rating screws on the upside.

  • Now both metal plates should be ready to remove.

Add Note Edit Step 7  ¶ 

  • Remove the downside metal plate.

  • Now everything should be disconnected and you have your PS2 Slimline successfully torn down.
