My Problem
The first generation MacBook Air has a well-known design flaw which causes a large percentage of them to completely lose their audio.
My Fix
Very smooth other than stripping one of the screws on the laptop. I used the correct Phillips #00 screwdriver but the screw stripped anyway. Used this tool and a battery powered drill to remove it : http://www.amazon.com/Alden-8430P-Grabit...
It took over an hour but only because of the stripped screw. Shouldn't take more than 30 minutes.
My Advice
I lived without audio for 2+ years on my laptop and I finally got around to fixing it only once I was ready to sell it (people don't want to buy a laptop whose audio does not work). Wish I had done it 2 years ago!
