Moderate

My Problem

I had the dreaded 2.53Ghz mid-2009 MBP and after upgrading the hard drive to a largr Seagate, found I had to to jumper it to force 1.5Gbps mode in order for it to work/wake/sleep/hibernate reliably. In anticipation of a near-future upgrade to an SSD, I figured I'd replace the cable

My Fix

Fine, except I bought the one without the bracket, and the instructions were missing that step (which was trivial -- open a ZIF socket, pull a ribbon, spudge the PCB/light/IR combo board out of the way, and then reverse).

My Advice

Be gentle with the thing. The one I pulled had nothing visibly wrong with it (but was the original part with the original p/n on it). So they're apparently easy to damage. I was careful, and didn't have any issues.
