My Problem
Adopted this older girl from my wife. It was always chockablock full with the stock 160GB HDD (and 2gbRAM). Upgraded the RAM to 8, deleted what I could from the HDD . . . but still not enough. So decided to look into the HDD upgrade. I was skeptical but reassured by the instructions on the site, so ordered the 500GB drive.
My Fix
First of all . . . I was amazed at how quick it arrived (I am in New Zealand!) The parts and tools were of good quality and neatly packaged. The installation was a breeze . . . and after holding my breath . . . successful first launch. Overall I give top marks to iFixit on this one !! If you are in a similar situation, rest assured that this fix is easy as they say. Very happy with result and have definitely bought another couple years out of this laptop, barring something else failing ;-)
My Advice
Just do it.
Think I need to tackle the battery next :) How bout discounts for happy repeat customers ?
