My Problem
This iPod had been out of commission for 8 years! We had entirely given up on it, stuck it in a drawer, our child had been using it as a "phone" for a couple of years. Then I learned a bit more about electronics, and realized that I could repair it! I went to trusty ol' ifixit.com and got the parts.
My Fix
Excellent! These 4th-gen iPods are highly repairable. The whole repair took about 10 minutes, and this iPod holds a charge! Possibly better than ever! That's exciting. Now if only I could use it with Rdio...
My Advice
Don't be afraid. This is not a hard thing to do. Don't rush things, and don't force anything. If you feel like you're forcing things open, take a breath, pause, go get some tea, come back in five minutes. It's totally doable.
