My Problem

My iPod battery was 10 years old and holding only an hour of charge. Had to either replace the battery or buy a new iPod. Since my fixit experience with replacing a hard drive went SO well, i decided to give replacing the battery a try!

My Fix

It was not as easy as the demos online showed. I had a time opening the iPod. Almost gave up. The plastic tools were not adequate to pop or separate the case. Had to use a thin metal bookmark to create a gap in the case. Then the plastic pieces worked fine. The old battery...due to age...was stuck tight to the case and had to be gently wedged free.

My Advice

Just go slow and don't get frustrated. If you are having trouble, stop, set it aside and come back later when your patience has returned. i set the iPod aside twice...the third time was the charm!
