My Problem
My old iPhone 3GS was exploding! The screen was popping out of the shell. I took a guess that it was the battery failing and expanding. The fact that it wouldn't hold a charge was, of course, another clue.
My Fix
The repair was surprisingly easy and quick. I sat with my iPad in front of me running the iFixit app. The instructions were elemental and clear. I read them from start to finish and watched the accompanying video overview before starting. They had everything right and I breezed through the repair.
My Advice
The photos in the instructions will expand. Simply tough one and it zooms to full screen. You can zoom further from there. This was very helpful when trying to identify some of the small ribbon cables to be disconnected.
