The President dropped his iPad.

My Problem

Our university president dropped and busted his freshly out of apple care iPad 2. He succeeded in permanently depressing his volume rocker and seizing up his mute switch. He wanted it fixed without costing much money. Our Desktop Support Techs are Apple haters so it fell to the Audio Guy and his Apple loving tool kit to get the job done...or try.

My Fix

I was able to get the iPad open without much trouble, but that dang WiFi antenna ripped right off with the digitizer...so I had to replace that bad boy as well. As fare as the volume rocker and mute switch, the parts were functional but the case was so bent that there was no reshaping it to work as intended. I ended up removing the rocker to get the volume icon to go away ands use the iPad as a test unit while loading the iCloud backup to another device.

My Advice

WiFi antennas are nothing but tin foil and whatever is in the iOpener smells like burnt popcorn if you don't dampen it enough.
