My Problem
I have a MacBook Core 2 duo A1181 black case MacBook. After checking online, I found iFixit, described the problem and determined it was likely the inverter cable or the display data cable.
My Fix
Many thanks to Matt Barnes of tech support who helped me pinpoint the problem - the inverter cable. Ordered that plus a spudger & a Phillips #0 screwdriver. With a tech minded friend, we fixed it in about 2+ hours. Your repair guides and photos were a huge help and without them the repair would have been really difficult.
My Advice
Take your time! Read the directions! Know what part goes back where. This is particularly true with fasteners. (they run away, you know!) In my case, there were many of them and some really small and easy to lose.
