My Problem

My daughter closed her computer with her earrings inside

My Fix

The display was destroyed while trying to remove her broken screen. Once the shards of glass and glue were removed from the top cover the repair was straight forward and simple to perform following the steps you outlined. We replaced the battery which wore out and apple would not warrant saying it had been cycled too many times in the first 4 months of ownership.

My Advice

The main thing in repairing the screen would be work on a bench with an extra pair of hands to help. the suction cup that was sold with the screen did more harm than good and necessitated the display repair. Apple wanted $350 to repair the screen and $120 plus tax to replace the battery. I replaced the battery, the screen and the display for Under $250.
