MacBook Pro 15" Unibody Mid 2010 Battery Replacement

10 - 45 minutes

Easy

My Problem

When I unplugged my mac, the OS would sleep, and I had to wait a minute or two for the system to hibernate and wake up. My battery was my #1 culprit, and I wanted to have a fresh start on the capacity (this machine is 3 years old, so the cycles were measured in thousands).

My Fix

The battery was a snug fit, but everything went great. I have already used iFixit guides to install an SSD and replace my optical drive with a spinning drive, so I was familiar with the internals. Putting everything back is a matter of running the process in reverse. So glad the driver heads were magnetized, no losing tiny screws deep in the body of the laptop!

My Advice

Read the repair guide fully before you make any purchases. While I had a decent miniature driver set, my flea market set did not include tri-wing heads, which are required to replace a MacBook Pro battery. So happy I did RTFM this time.
