My Problem
MacBook Pro was used as a full blown, permanently powered, home computer. smcFanControl had the fans running at 6000RPM constantly…all this for about 2-3 years…
Needless to say, they died!
Tried re-oiling the fan pins…worked for a little while, but they were gone!
My Fix
The iFixit walkthrough was the easiest thing on the web to follow. Fans replaced in no time and are running b-e-a-utifully! Awesome-sauce!!!
My Advice
One tip to save your a$$:
Follow the guide LETTER-BY-LETTER.
Do that, and you will have a much better chance of quick and through success :)
