My Problem
My HDD was not booting up or even showing up in disk utility. Looked up reasons the HDD error and found that either HDD failed or cable failed. First testing if the HDD failed by putting it into another computer and seeing if it would boot. If you do not have another computer to see if it will boot ask around. My HDD booted so failed HDD was not the issue so i decided to invest in the $50 HDD cable from ifixit.
My Fix
The repair process was easy. I work with computers on a regular basis but that does not mean this is only easy due to experience. Anyone can install this, instructions are straight forward just be cautious with the screws. The hardest part was making sure the adhesive for the LED cable is put on properly.
My Advice
Do not freak out if your HDD has problems. Always back up on an external to always make sure your files are in a safe place. There are many clients to choose from some are cheaper than others but there are some freeware or trials that work just as well for a one time back up of your system. Just troubleshoot your issue before you take it in to a computer repair location for they will charge you a hefty price for what can be an easy fix, in this case around $50.
