My Problem
My iBook G4 stopped charging the battery. I had tried the easy things: reseating the battery, and resetting the PRAM, the nvpram and the PCU. I suspected the DC-in board because the power supply indicator had not been green or orange correctly after someone had rested the computer on edge on the input plug.
My Fix
The repair went perfectly. I printed off the ifixit guide, followed the instructions and everything went without a hitch. The battery had been at 0% and now it is at 100%. There was an odd thing about recharging the battery. It stopped charging at about 35%. I reseated the battery and the charging continued to a point. I repeated taking the battery out and putting it back in when it stopped charging again and eventually it got to where it is indicating that it is fully charged. So there might still be a problem, but right now everything looks good.
My Advice
I think replacing the part went well because the instructions are so very good and because I was organized and took my time.
