My Problem

Toddler, Skype, Mom's ginger ale, and an expensive laptop. What could possibly go wrong?

My Fix

With the upper case replacement guide, the teardown/reassembly took ~30 minutes each. The worst part was waiting for the pentalobe screwdriver (though not very long - thanks ifixit!) knowing that the battery was still connected. Cleaning the keyboard with isopropyl alcohol and throughly drying took a couple of evenings.

My Advice

The release levers on the ribbon cable connectors are opposite the cables (not entirely clear from the picture). Also, find a video on the internet for the technique for popping keys of the keyboard to ensure you can clean throughly.
