Works like a new

by hardijs

My Problem

The late-2008 Macbook Pro 15" - after a lightning discharged quite nearby the screen acquired a bad habit of turning white washed out. Could be a coincidence or just a factor promoting a defect.

The washout could be remedied by a little pinching of the screen - so it was just a matter of time the glass broke :(

My Fix

After almost a 3 year daily usage - the glue has detoriated and the glass came off easily.

just get the right tools - nothing sharp and metalic.

My Advice

2 things to bear in ming - more so be prepared beforehand:

• clean the old glue thoroughly. it helps afterwards when the new glass/glue needs sticking to. I did use dimethilaether - definitely nothing petrol based - they do tend to dissolve the rubber band around the screen as well do dry a long time.

• remove all shipping/handling materials from the glass - it's easy to overlook the inside of the screen ;)
