My Problem

My camera lens on the back cover was so scratched that every shot looked like a soft-focus love story from the 70s

My Fix

Removing the old back glass cover was simple.

There was a little flashing on one of the tabs on the new cover that caught on the milled edge of the aluminum iPhone housing. A couple minutes with a sharp x-acto knife smoothed out the molded tab on the cover, and I got it to fit well.

My Advice

To take full advantage of the new clear back glass, I stuck a couple stickers *inside* the phone, visible along with the battery and the rest of the iPhone guts.

My Problem

Dropped my 4 and broke the back (I had already ordered a case and it was set to come the next morning)

My Fix

Easy as !@#$

My Advice

This was a good and reasonably cheap fix. Just happy to have a working camera on my phone again. Shipping was quick too.

My Problem

Broken glass

My Fix

As expected, the repair is about the easiest one to make. Applies only to the 4 & 4s.

My Advice

About the only thing you can screw up is the screws themselves.

My Problem

Replace fan on Mac Mini + front & back display on iPhone 4.

My Fix

Received part and tools from iFixit 2 days after placing order.

Replacing fan on Mac Mini:

No-brainer and no problems. Time spent: 15 min.

Replacing displays on iPhone4:

Went like at dream thanks to the perfect guides from iFixit. Time spent: 1h30min.

My Advice

Probably more idiots like me out there who doesn't read the full instruction before starting the work -> Keeping track of all the disassembled part was the biggest challenge.

What I did: Used a dinner plate, tape and marker for parts described in each step.

What I should have done: Print out the readymade sheet provided by iFixit...

My Problem

iPhone 4 buttons are notorious for breaking. We tried using the "assistive touch" function found in settings. Although this floating home button allows you to continue to use your phone, it is EXTREMELY ANNOYING!

We decided to take the plunge and attempt our own repair.

My Fix

IFIXIT came to the rescue!

My Advice

With the use of the IFIXIT Driver Kit and On-Line guide, we were able to replace the dysfunctional home button quite easily.

We used a plain piece of white paper to organize and label all parts.

We carefully followed all directions, and voila....

I have a new, fully functional home button!
