How to solve overheating, fans and not waking from sleep?
Hello :)
So since I installed Lion, I have the following problems with my MacBook:
1) overheating: often over 100ºC
2) fans over 6000 rpm even with temperatures <70ºC
3) often mac does not wake from sleep or does not go to sleep
I did a HardwareTest and got the following error:
"4SNS/1/40000000:TCOD-108.250"
I have resetted SMC, PRAM and NVRAM. The NVRAM reset seemed to help but after about 30min/1h the overfanning reappeared.
This is definitely a problem connected to Lion, but I can't go to the shop because my guarantee is over. I thought maybe updating Lion to its newest update (the 1GB update in the beginning of Feb 2012) would solve the problem, but it didn't.
I don't know what to do anymore. I read somewhere that maybe I should reset the PMU? I'm chickening out because it seems dangerous (that something in the Mac could be destroyed).
Could someone please tell me how to solve this problem?
Thank you SO MUCH.
PS. regarding the sleep, I think my computer is seriously confused, because when it goes to sleep, the light (white one in front of the Mac) gets turned on, and when I open the Mac, the light gets turned off. It's like it goes to sleep with the lid open and wakes up with it closed.... :/
PS2: I have a Macbook late 2008, 4GB memory, 2.4Hz
