My Problem
My MacBook Pro battery had a Service Battery error and I needed to replace the battery... or else I would have been stuck using my laptop with the MagSafe power cord while having the risk of everything shutting down if the cord were to be pulled.
My Fix
It took me about 15 minutes or so. The instructions were super easy to follow, both visually and textually. I couldn't complain.
My Advice
If you don't have the tools available, definitely purchase the appropriate tools as suggested with the battery.
My Problem
My early 2011 MacBook Pro's battery died.
In my country I was told I had to wait up to four
months for the replacement.
I bought the battery on I fix it and got delivered in three days only!
The payment was secure and to avoid any fraud I was asked to upload a form, very secure and excellent support from their staff.
My Fix
I followed the guide and it took me 10 minutes to got my Mac back alive.
My Advice
If you have a MacBook with a dead batery replace it as it causes all kind of issues.
My Problem
After owning my Macbook Pro 15" Unibody (Early 2011) for 26 months the battery ultimately failed and would no longer hold a charge.
My Fix
Without a hitch. It could not have gone smoother. Total replacement time - 20 minutes.
My Advice
The instructions are so easy I don't think they can be made simpler.
But this is not exactly my first foray inside my Macbook Pro. I upgraded the memory twice. From 4GB to 8GB right after purchase, and to 16GB a year later as well replaced the original 500GB hard drive with a 512GB SSD.
My Problem
My stock battery would only hold a charge for approximately an hour.
My Fix
Given the use of the correct tools, the repair was very easy. I just took off the the back cover, popped off the battery terminal, unscrewed the battery, and replaced it.
My Advice
The use of the tri-wing screwdriver is not optional..
My Problem
A week before leaving for a conference in Korea I managed to spill almond milk all over the laptop...
My Fix
Replaced the battery, works like a charm. (Computer still smells like almonds)
My Advice
Don't bike up large hills with tupperware filled with almond milk in the same bag as your computer. But if you do, make sure it is unsweetened almond milk
My Problem
Early 2011 15" Macbook Pro battery gave up after almost exactly 2 years and only 128 cycles. :( Not at all impressed with the longevity of the battery included with my original Macbook Pro
My Fix
The repair was extremely easy. The toolset had everything I needed to do the repair and the battery removal and installation took less than 10 minutes. The online guide shows exactly what you need to do with photos and all. As always, iFixIt is the one stop shop for your needs to do this yourself. Taking it into Apple or a certified workshop (MacStore) takes too long (they want to keep the device until the battery gets it, they won't pre-order it... just silly). There is no reason that anyone that can operate a screwdriver can't do this repair themselves.
My Advice
Ensure you have a a clean workspace and the right tools (very small phillips screwdriver and a 'twisted' 3 prong end). The Macro Bit Set that iFixIt sells includes it all and just made more sense than buying a couple of the tools individually as it's not that much more expensive. Super easy swap!
My Problem
Never unplugged my laptop, or let the battery die so it could charge. You know, you don't know what you got till it's gone! Woa, just had a Cinderella flashback there! Still needed my battery. I was getting sick of dragging the power cord with me to my dj gigs.
My Fix
Like butta! Smooth and easy. Got all the millions of screws out, tried to pull out the battery, no go. Thanks for the hidden screw under the sticker Apple! I think they do that stuff to mess with your head. Once that was out, it was smooth sailing. Thanks again.
My Advice
Now it's time to upgrade my ram! You know the early 2011's can take 16 Gig of ram now right? Awesome! That should speed up Photoshop!
My Problem
My wife's MacBook Pro's battery died after 2 years use, which came as a surprise to me, as I have an old iBook from 2004 with its original battery still working just fine. (OK, I very seldom used it during the last 5 years, still it's a longer battery life than the MacBook Pro's.
My Fix
Replacing the battery was very simple, after having read the guides available on iFixit.
I made a note/suggestion at the guide, though, 'cause at first read it seemed that removing the battery charging cable was optional, which is not. Clearing that up the whole swap went smooth and quickly.
My Advice
Yes, I strongly suggest that check thoroughly the type of battery you need to replace. A lot of places I tried to buy a battery only listed the computer model. It's _not_ enough. There are more battery types only for MacBook Pro 5" than I imagined, and I had the bad luck to order the wrong type locally (in Sweden), following the encouraging info "…it fits the MacBook Pro 5" Early/Late 2011…" (which is exactly my wife's MBP). It was a completely different type of battery, and had to send it back. Then I returned to this oasis of good and correct information and bought the right battery.
And my wife's MBP lives and healthy.
A happy Ending. :)
My Problem
I fixed the battery myself because when I went to the Apple Store they gave me a hard time about installing it myself. I like to do things myself. It was also more affordable to go with the exact same battery from iFixit.
My Fix
Super easy. Installed Phillips screws also to make any future repairs easier.
My Advice
If you don't have that crazy tamper resistant tri screw tool. You can use small pliers to carefully remove them. Dust out your fans and intake while you're underneath the hood.
My Problem
After only two years the battery died on me, without any warning. I woke up a morning and could start my mac - no battery. Plugged to the power, I saw that the battery icon was showing a cross as if I had no battery at all.
My Fix
Repair went pretty well. It was really easy, once you have the correct tools. Took me about ten minutes (longest part is removing all the screws and putting them back on).
My Advice
The guide is pretty straightforward
