My Problem
Old Battery didn't hold charge
My Fix
30 second "repair"
My Advice
About $30 cheaper than from Apple. Battery looks to be good quality.
My Problem
The right fan on my 15" MBP started making alarming noises. I figured it would fail completely soon, so I ordered a replacement fan from iFixit.
My Fix
I actually got the existing fan working again-for now. Using the guide on iFixit, I extracted the noisy fan, took it apart (there's only three parts), dipped the fan shaft in lithium grease, and reassembled the whole thing. The noise stopped-for now, at least.
My Advice
You would think that I could have done this just using the Guide and without ordering the $40 part-I wouldn't recommend it. My experience is that parts like fans stay fixed for only so long; once they've begun to fail, the process is pretty much inexorable. Having the new fan on my desk for installation at my convenience is a lot better than having it break at its convenience. Plus, buying the part supports iFixit and keeps the great Guides coming-buying a part I may not need for a couple months is a LOT cheaper than paying Apple to replace it and being without my machine for a week while they do so!
My Problem
Rechargeable batteries just don't last forever - even good ones. I think it's a conspiracy by the physicists of the world who just need to tweak some equation somewhere for all of us to enjoy unlimited battery life. For sure Nobel Prize to whomever does this. Until then, we must replace batteries from time to time.
My Fix
A lot better than the fan replacement I tried last week (I ordered the wrong fan, but ifixit is taking care of rectifying that snafu).
My Advice
I put up with this dying battery far too long, and lost data when the old battery caused the system to crash instead of sleeping the system.
My Problem
The left cooling fan on an older Macbook Pro was noisy and intermittent.
My Fix
No snags! The instructions and video provided on this site were spot-on! New fan works great and the computer doesn't overheat anymore.
My Advice
Stay tuned to this website! It's great!
My Problem
First, my Hard Drive was too puny to contain my music and photo collection. Second, I can hear a spinning noise. Third, the runtime of my battery was short.
My Fix
A bit stressed at the beginning because it was the first time we replaced a Hard Drive on this type of computer. However, we followed the instructions of the ifixit guide one by one and everything went well. Concerning the battery, the one I received was not better than the one that I had: a short runtime. I am waiting for the replacement.
My Advice
We didn't have a T6 Torx Screwdriver. Instead of, we used a T7 Torx Screwdriver and it worked out without any problem.
My Problem
The older versions of the MacBookPro (A1150) don´t have large Hard Drives, so we had to put in a larger one. At the same time the battery went wrong, so we had to replace it, simultaneous with giving the MacBookPro some more RAM
My Fix
With the guides of ifixit it was as easy as like playing a game!
My Advice
Everything I found, was like described in the repair guides from ifixit!
