Product Overview

Liquid crystals, though chiefly used for making costly, but mouth-eroding and delicious, daiquiris, have found implementation in the creation of eye-catching computer displays. Enjoy the less-intoxicating LCD with our MacBook pro 15" LCD panel.

Comes in glossy or matte finish.

ID your Mac to ensure this is the correct LCD panel for your computer. This LCD is only compatible with model A1226 or A1260 MacBook Pro 15" laptops (printed on the bottom of the laptop).

NOTE: In rare circumstances, 15" MacBook Pros use Chi Mei model N154C6 LCDs. If you have this LCD, then you need the Chi Mei reverse frame LCD. As far as we know, the only way to tell if you have a Chi Mei LCD is by taking the LCD out of the laptop and looking at the manufacturer sticker on the rear of the LCD.

My Problem

I tripped in the terminal at Detroit Metro Airport, fell and landed on my Macbook, cracking the LCD screen. Apple wanted $1200 to fix it!?

My Fix

The repair went flawlessly. The instructions are phenominally detailed. The tools I ordered for assembly made the process easier than I expected.

My Advice

The one key is to be VERY organized with the parts you take off. Have a container for each set of screws you take off and keep the containers lined up in the order you took them off.

My Problem

I dropped my computer and cracked the LCD screen.

My Fix

using the guide on iFixit, my friend and I spent the afternoon in the basement of our favorite coffee shop with an allan wrench, tiny screw driver set and a paint scrapper replacing the screen.

Works great!

My Advice

The most tricky/difficult component of this repair was disassembling the screen casing. Use a paint scrapper and a youtube video. Go slow, take your time. The bottom of the LCD was glued to the interior of the sliver casing, this surprised us.

Reconnecting the isight wire was also tough (it kept falling back out.)

Also connect your wires and test everything first before putting ALL of your screws back in, just in case you missed a wire.

My Problem

The LCD screen was only useful on the right half. The left half was damaged. I went to the Apple store and they had no stock to repair and would replace with a similar computer for $1200. After two other web stores were out of stock with little hope of getting new stock in, I bought a replacement LCD screen for my powerbook pro from iFixit.

My Fix

The replacement took 2-3 hours. It went slowly because of the delicate nature of many parts. The reassembly was much faster than disassembly. The directions on the iFixit web site were clear but had to be read carefully. When turned back on the familiar apple startup screen came up immediately proving the screen was functional.

My Advice

Separate screws as you go. I used 5 containers that held the screws in the order of removal. Do the work in a location were the very small screws can be easily found if dropped. Read directions carefully and go slowly.
