My Problem

My right side fan was going out after a few years of hard service. Time to replace both for good measure.

My Fix

Easy, thanks to your excellent service documentation.

My Advice

One word of caution when replacing fans, make sure that the connectors are completely seated. I checked my fan RPMs using iStat immediately after the initial power on, post repair. My right fan was turning at zero RPM. I popped the cover and reseated the connector. powered up and observed it spinning. Checked iStat and have continued to do so every few operating hours. All is well at around 2K RPM.

My Problem

fan was making noise on my 15 inch macbook pro. i say the replacement available on ifixit, purchased it and installed it via an online video

My Fix

went easy

My Advice

i highly recommend ifixit. they offer great service and fast shipping.

My Problem

I had 2 noisey fans and only 1 GB of memory on my MacBook Pro. The fan noise was VERY annoying and the memory was painfully slow.

My Fix

I was worried about doing the repairs myself on such an expensive laptop but it went without any problems thanks to iFixit and their repair guide. Replacing both cooling fans was a breeze and upgrading the memory was a snap.

My Advice

Order all of your parts at once so that you only have to open up your laptop/machine once and do all the repairs a one time.

My Problem

The bearing in the fan was stuck, hence the replacement.

My Fix

With the guide it was quite easy. Lots of screws but no major problem points.

My Advice

I still don't know what that fan is for: gpu or cpu. After the replacement, the air flow probably is fine, but it seems the gpu got a knack before already, so the replacement is kinda useless.

My Problem

The left fan of my macbook pro stopped working...

Actually it first started to make A LOT of noise (more or less like a tractor).

Than suddenly the noise stopped, I was relived,... but just a few second after I noticed that the fan completely stopped spinning... Panic.

My Fix

The operation lasted 20 minutes (around), I had to be very careful to not loose all the screws. So I used tape to block them on the table. Nothing special. The iFixit guide was clear and good enough for anyone (I found more tape than in the pictures... and would have been nice to have know how to unplug some small connections). But everything gone nicely ;)

My Advice

Not much advice, it is very convenient use a small piece of tape for each step to separate different kind of screws for each picture in the guide. At the end just follow the guide backwards eliminating a piece of tape at time, so you'll not forget to put on some screws!

My Problem

Original fan was dead, it was like a diswasher

My Fix

Very easy

My Advice

manual is perfect

My Problem

Both fans in my 15" Macbook Pro A1226 (2007) were making lots of noise.

My Fix

Once you get all of the screws out holding the case on, the top with the keyboard pops right off and there are the fans. I carefully unplugged the fan connections and used a T6 screwdriver to remove the screws. When pulling the old ones out, you must be careful about the other wires/connections in the vicinity, some of which run across the fan. With the old fans out, I popped in the new ones, screwed them back in and plugged in the connections. Like new!

My Advice

Make sure you get the two screws inside the battery compartment that are under the touchpad and check to make sure you've gotten every screw before resorting to a spudger.

My Problem

I needed a bigger HD and both my fans where giving up on me totally.

My Fix

Like a dream. Initially I printed out on paper the "how to do it" and step by step it was soooo simple. No problems along the way and now everything works like a charm

My Advice

Print on paper or take a look on a smartphone as you go along with your repairs. The step-by-step instructions are easy to follow and my only advice is to use a wriststrap and magnetic tools, that´s it.
