My Problem

The issue grew over time, but the use of my MacBook Pro Mid 2009 trackpad started to become hard and difficult to click. Looked for a few options online, two things seemed to correct the issue. A new battery (last option) and tweaking a screw under the battery (first option). It ended up being a swollen battery that needed to be replaced for the system to be back to normal.

My Fix

The repair was less then 10 minutes with the correct tools (buy a tri-wing screwdriver for this repair if your model needs it). The part quickly and simply replaced the existing swollen one. Once it was replaced, the trackpad worked without issue. Like having a new machine once again.

My Advice

Have the right tools for the job before you start. (#0 Phillips, T6 Torx, and a Tri-Wing Screwdriver depending on your model).

Hard to determine if it was the screw or battery issue with nothing to compare it too. Once I had the replacement battery in hand, I could see just how swollen the old battery was and how it was impacting the trackpad.

This is a quick do-it-yourself job. The replacement product from iFixit was a drop in and go solution.

My Problem

The original battery to my MacBook Pro 13" completely died. If I unplugged it from the charger, it would instantly died...and I kind of needed to take it to classes with me.

My Fix

Repair was easy as long as you have the right tools.

My Advice

If you're changing the battery yourself and not paying someone to do it, you definitely need the 3 recommended tools to do it, so order them as well (unless you already have them).

My Problem

Battery was dying after only 30 mins :( and I love this compute; I didn't want to replace it, despite some friends' and family recomendatoins...

My Fix

It was great; I googled how to replace a battery; I called some stores and about changing it and they were unhelpful and expensive, so I said !@#$ it, I'll try replace it myself!

A youtube clip came up of a very compentent and encouraging young woman; so I went to website and it really couldn't have been easier and more encouraging.

My Advice

Go for it; this is a very very easy repair; and total came to 151 dollars including shipping!

Thank you ifixit!!!

My Problem

poor quality after 2 years use of my macbook pro and iphone

My Fix

very good, exelent guides

My Advice

No advice, everything was perfect!

My Problem

One day I turned on my Macbook and the battery icon had an "X" on it. When I unplugged the charger, my MB turned off. For a couple of weeks, I had no portability, because I had to have the charger in. Then all of a sudden, it just wouldn't turn on at all. I did a google search on my iPhone and discovered this wonderful place called ifixit.com. I ordered the part and had it the next business day with next day shipping.

My Fix

Before I even got the part, I had my MB opened up and ready for the new battery to be plugged in, screwed up, and ready to turn on. I did just that, but then, a problem arose. My OS was corrupt or something or other. I was stuck at the gray Apple screen for hours. So I just put in my OSX install disk and did a CMD+R boot, and just reinstalled my original OS. All is well and I am back on the wonderful world wide web! God, I love the internet.

My Advice

Putting a battery in is by far the easiest thing to do. The hardest thing would be finding small enough driver heads to unscrew screws, but then again that's not even that hard either.

My Problem

I had to get it fix since you battery was completely dead. So i'm really glad I found you guys because you guys gave me the right price and good tutorial of installing.

My Fix

It went smoothly not one thing went wrong.

My Advice

I would say do your research first before going to a near by store because they will rob you of all your money for something so easy to do.

My Problem

had two batteries arrive lightning quick. one for the mackrel dead one, second for the "on the way out". the other source i attempted to exploit were fast as well, but did not deliver the tri-philips they claimed, so with my trusty double ought took off the back and used a steak knife to remove the tri-paddle. battery is snug enouh, did not bother with tamper proofs, just put the cover back, good enough. thank you so much, using the battery right now.

My Fix

still looking for the tamper proof bit set of my dreams, lite/magnifyer too.

My Advice

blow off putting the tamperproof screws back, does not seem to be a need

My Problem

The original battery had died completely within the week of the 2 year warranty running out. It was a good excuse to open my mac and clean out some dust too.

My Fix

It was relatively painless. The only tricky thing was the tri-wing screws in the battery itself, which I didn't have. A regular flat screwdriver with a sliver clipped off fit though and got it done.

My Advice

Make sure you have the needed tools - missing one of the custom screwdrivers is super annoying.

It's not as dangerous as you might think - opening it is pretty simple.

My Problem

The original battery needed to be replaced as I was getting maybe 90 minutes off of a full charge.

My Fix

It went pretty smoothly. Think there was about 10 screws in total... ten minutes of effort if you're being careful about which screws go where.

After booting and giving it a full charge, I now get about four hours off of a full charge. :-)

My Advice

Be sure that you have Y screwdriver for the ones on the battery inside your laptop. I found one for $3 on Amazon. Didn't really need the wedge... the connector for the battery slid off pretty easily with my finger nails (or a small flathead screwdriver would have helped)

My Problem

Battery life was down to an hour. Battery Service indication was on.

My Fix

To replace the battery was easy as can be. Simply take out the screws and replace. The hardest part was making sure to not lose the screws, as they are so tiny.

My Advice

Get the Tri Wing tool to release the battery. Other than that, it is simple as can be.
