My Problem
Suddenly my macbookair run out of.... sound. Even though I could see the speaker icon on the top bar, under output tab on System Preferences the device wasn't recognized...
My Fix
Firstly I bought MacBook Air audio card I replaced it but this didnt fix the problem, then I ordered the audio cable, but that didn't solve my problem too. Then I took off an audio card from an other MAcbookAir, I plugged in my Macbook Air and it worked like a charm! Well, the problem was that I had ordered the wrong type of audio card, I should have order macbook Air ORIGINAL Audio board.
My Advice
Be sure about the type of hardware you are going to buy. Be patient and stronger than market think...
My Problem
The sound just stopped working in my first generation Macbook Air, reasearched the forums and found I was not alone. It was the forums that introduced me to iFixit
My Fix
With some trepidation I removed the ten casing screws and opened up my baby. Yes everything inside this Mac is miniature. But I followed the iFixit guide step by step and installed the replacement audio board and cable andwithin two hours it was reassembled.
Booted up and guess what - my Air was singing again
My Advice
Recommend iFixit, the guides are excellent
