Step 25

  • Slide the orange hard drive ribbon cable directly out of its connector.

  • If you are replacing the hard drive in your iPod and it did not come with the rubber mounting brackets and foam padding, transfer these items from your old drive to the replacement drive.

Step 26 — Hard Drive Cable

  • Use a spudger to flip up the plastic tab holding the orange hard drive ribbon in place. The tab will rotate up 90 degrees, releasing the ribbon cable.

  • Make sure you're attempting to free the tab closest to the hard drive ribbon and not the black section of the connector.

Step 27

  • Slide the orange hard drive ribbon cable directly out of its connector. The cable may be attached to the logic board with some adhesive. If the cable doesn't immediately come free, carefully pull up on the cable to loosen the adhesive.


Congratulations! You have now removed your item. To reassemble simply follow the directions in reverse order.
