The Brother HL-5240 printer comes standard with 16 megabytes of memory. The following steps can be followed to add more memory. Up to 528 MB of ram can be added.

Step 1 — Memory ¶

Flip the power switch to the off position by pressing the side of the button with an "O" symbol.

Unplug the printer's cord from the wall socket.
Step 2 ¶

Locate the small removable panel on the left side of the printer.

Press the tab at the top of the panel.

Pull the panel open.
Step 3 ¶

Pull the old RAM out of its slot and insert the new RAM in its place.
