  • Lift the x-clamp off the back of the logic board.

  • Using one hand to hold the heat sink in place, carefully turn the logic board over.

  • Lift the heat sink off of the logic board.

  • Before reinstallation, follow our thermal paste guide to replace the thermal compound between the heat sink and processor.

Add Note Edit Step 59 — Motherboard Replacement  ¶ 

  • The logic board and its connectors remain.

  • When reinstalling a new board, remove the cables from this board and place them on the new board.
