VW Key Fob 3G0.959.752 Disassembly

What you need

  1. VW Key Fob 3G0.959.752 Disassembly, Key shown disassembled: step 1, image 1 of 1
    • Remove the key by sliding the spring-loaded clip back.

    • Take off the battery compartment door as normal. It's just lightly clipped on; fingernails work if you have them.

    • Remove the battery. You're going to constantly be pressing all the buttons.

    • Remove the Torx T5 screw.

    • Slide around the bottom piece that the screw was holding on until it comes off.

    • Slide something underneath the top cover all the way around. There's a very thin layer of a rubbery glue. It released cleanly for me.

    • Pull off the top cover. There are clips underneath the VW logo and on the short side. I don't see any way to get to the one on the side. The top cover really only wants to come straight off, but some twisting/rocking may help.

    • Pry out the electronics module. There are clips on the center of the top, the center of the bottom, the left just below the emergency button, and the right in line with the bottom of the battery compartment. Prying around all of those places may help to release the clips. Pressing up on the modules through the buttons helps, too.

Conclusion

To reassemble your device, follow these instructions in reverse order.

This was a big save for me after my old FOB got shattered on I-90. I have most functionality back after switching the original internals over to a $20 FOB I bought on eBay. Thank you!
