Add Note Edit Step 1 — Remove Back Cover  ¶ 

  • Remove the six external screws from the camera using a #0 Phillips screwdriver.

  • After removal of screws, the bottom of the back half of the external case should loosen from camera.

  • Be careful to make sure you don't loose the screws.

  • Open the battery cover on the top of the camera and remove the battery.

  • Slide your fingernail or a plastic spudger from the bottom to top of the right side of the camera.

  • Carefully apply some pressure on the top right corner of the device and pull the external cover off.

  • If the cover sounds like it is cracking, don't worry; keep pulling. It will come off clean.

  • Beware of the flash capacitor, it carries some electrical charge, and so you could get a shock from it.

  • Pull off the back cover.

  • Some parts behind the back case might fall out, so be careful.

  • Remove the front cover. It should come off easily.

  • Buttons might fall out when you remove the front cover.

  • Remove green tape from ribbon.

  • Remove four screws around lens.

  • Use spudger to remove ribbon connecting the circuit board from lens.

  • Remove lens from camera.

To reassemble your device, follow these instructions in reverse order.
