Typical lens error on this inexpensive camera. It was stuck in a half out position, the camera started up, but shut down again due to the bad lens.

This was a straight forward repair. I liked not having to have any special tools, not soldering is involved.

Add Note Edit Step 4  ¶

  • Start splitting the case form the battery compartment side. you just need a plastic tool to get it started.

  • Once it opened slightly, use your fingers to pull the case apart. No excessive force is necessary.

  • Do not try to totally separate the back case. It is still connected by a ribbon cable, just fold it to the side.

Add Note Edit Step 5  ¶

  • The cable is just pushed into the connector. Use a pair of hemostats or tweezers to pull it straight out. Grab it close to the connector so that the cable wont tear.

  • With the cable disconnected, separate the back case from the camera.

  • Remove the four screws from the LCD.

Add Note Edit Step 6  ¶

  • With the four screws emoved, the connector for the LCD is easily accessed. Move the white clip in the opposite direction of the cable to open the connector.

  • Separate the LCD from the camera

  • All the cable connectors and screws for the logic board are now fully visible. The cables are all a press fit.

Add Note Edit Step 7  ¶

  • Remove the three ribbon cables. From left to right, the cables are for the flash capacitor, the lens, and the top control buttons.

  • Remove the screws that hold the logic board, as well as the two long ones that attached the front case.

  • The screws are different sizes, keep the separate. The two long ones will hold the front case to the camera, and only fit in the middle of the logic board.
