I repaired a trace on a Macbook Pro keyboard with common aluminum foil.

on silver key macbook Pro models, you don't even have to remove the keyboard from the machine; on unibody models, you would have to remove the keyboard (ouch).

I removed about ⅓ of the keycaps to get to where i could inspect the traces.
I determined there was a faulty trace
I replaced the faulty trace with a piece of aluminum foil between the two pads that bridged the broken trace.
Took about an hour, I didn't even have to remove the keyboard from the laptop.
